We present the monthly industry report on South Korean Cinema.
Overview
This month more than 23 million people went the South Korean cinemas, resulting in sales over $154 million dollars. The Foreign Films were watched by 12 million people and gather around $81 million dollars. On the other hand Korean Films had an audience of 11 million and got more than $73 million dollars. Once again Foreign Films gather most of the industry (52% of audience) thanks to some highly anticipated films such “Inside Out” and “Terminator Genisys”.
Taking into account the numbers obtain this month with the ones from 2014 we can see that the total amount of spectators have increase by 18% (more than 3 million admissions). The Korean Films had an increase of 10% and the Foreign Films almost 30%. This year ticket sales went up by $10 million dollars mostly acquired by Foreign Films.

| Assassination – The Piper – Three Summer Night |
This month the most watched Korean Films were: “Assassination” (Showbox) by Choi Dong-Hoon with 5.419.912 spectators, “The Piper” (CJ) directed by Kim Gwang-Tae with 827.836, and “Three Summer Night” by Kim Sang-Jin with 76.819. As for the Foreign Films: “Inside Out” (US) by Pete Docter with 3.830.397 spectators, “Terminator Genisys” (US) directed by Alan Taylor with 3.299.624, y “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” (US) by Christopher McQuarrie with 980.613.
Most Watched Films
This month the most watched movies were: “Assassination” (Showbox) directed by Choi Dong-Hoon with 5.4 million admissions. In second place we have “Northern Limit Line” (Content Panda) by Kim Hak-soon with more than 4 million admissions. Then we have the animation movie “Inside Out” (US) by Pete Docter that was able to get 3.8 million spectators. “Terminator Genisys” (US) de Alan Taylor got 3.2 million admissions. Lastly we have “Jurassic World” (US) by Colin Trevorrow with 980.613 spectators.
