We present the monthly industry report on South Korean Cinema.
During September more than 18 million went to the cinemas in South Korea, sales reach $127 million dollars. Korean Films were able to get 60% of the market (11 million spectators) and sales over pass $76 million dollars. As far as Foreign Films they were seen by 7.2 million persons and sales reach $50 million.
Compared to last year there was an increase (8.8%) of the total admissions. Korean Films show an increase of almost 42% as they reach 11 million admissions. Foreign Films shown a decrease of 20%. Sales were almost the same as September 2014 with only an increase of $3 million dollars.
|The Throne – The Accidental Detective – The Long Way Home|
This month the most watched Korean Films were: “The Throne” (Showbox) directed by Lee Joon-ik with 4.9 million spectators, “The Accidental Detective” (CJ) by Kim Joung-hoon with 1.4 million, and “The Long Way Home” (Lotte) by Cheon Sung-il with 522.993 viewers. As for the Foreign Films: “Ant-Man” (US, UK) directed by Payton Reed lead with 2.8 million admissions, “Maze Runner: The Scotch Trails” (US) by Wes Ball with 2.3 million, and “The Intern” (US) by Nancy Meyers with 839.514.

This month the most watched movies were: “The Throne” (Showbox) directed by Lee Joon-ik with 4.9 million spectators. “Ant-Man” (US, UK) by Payton Reed with 2.8 million admissions, “Maze Runner: The Scotch Trails” (US) by Wes Ball with 2.3 million, “Veteran” (CJ) by de Ryoo Seung-wan with 2.2 million, and “The Accidental Detective” by Kim Joung-hoon with 1.4 million spectators.
