With almost 15 million tickets sold “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” broke all records. This weekend the film become the most watched film in the South Korea cinema history.
Since its premier on July 30th “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” (Myeong-ryang) directed by Han-min Kim has become a cinematographic phenomenon. In just three weeks the movie became the most watched movie in South Korea cinema history. So much is the notoriety of the movie that it overpass “The Host” (2006) the most watched Korean film with 13 million viewers but also over pass “Avatar” (2009) the most watched film in Korean cinema with 13.6 million spectators.
This weekend “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” reached 14.6 million of viewers and manage to get 85% of the spectators. Regarding the box office the film accumulates ₩ 113 million of Wons (US$ 110.5 millions). CJ Entertainment Inc, the distributor and producer company has released the movie in the USA this weekend.
