The Busan International Film Festival announced that the Korean actress Moon Sori and the Japanese actor Watanabe Ken will be the hosts of the Opening Ceremony that will take place on October 2nd.
Watanabe Ken is the third international figure to host the Opening Ceremony, following Tang Wei in 2012 and Aaron Kwok in 2013. Watanabe Ken is one of the most well known Japanese actors. His popularity has grown immensely worldwide due to appearances in “Batman Begins” (2005), “Memoirs of Geisha” (2006), “Inception” (2010) and “Unforgiven” (2013).
Since her debut as an actress in “Peppermint Candy” (1999), directed by Lee Chang-dong, Moon Sori is considered one of the best Korean actresses. She reached international fame after she won the Best Actress Award at the Venice International Film Festival in 2002 for the film “Oasis” (Lee Chang-dong). Moon Sori also hosted the 12th Busan Film Festival opening ceremony with her husband, Director Jang Joon-hwan in 2007.
We remain our readers that the Busan International Film Festival will start on October 2nd and will continue until October 11th. Also the Asian Film Market will be held from October 5th until the 8th. I will try to get more information about the festival and the film presented for this edition as soon as I can.
