Cinemalaya 2014 – Films leaked to youtube!!

Some hours ago the Cinemalaya Foundation have release a short press communiqué on their Facebook account saying that there has been a major film leak by one of their technical personnel. Apparently one intern of the festival had uploaded the films to her Youtube account. Very quickly the account was taken down and she is been questioned by the festival authorities.

Original Cinemalya Statement posted on Facebook

Piracy is a huge problem to the industry and its worst for Film Festivals. People don’t have a clear view of how much work every person in the festival put. If they knew they would never do something like this. As a Film Festival organizer myself I can only say that this only damages the festival credibility. It’s a real pity that this happened as the festival celebrated their 10th edition.

I will try to keep my readers inform about further news.
