Cinemalaya 2014

We are glad to announce that the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival has started. This event will take place in Manila (Philippines) until the August 10th.

The Cinemalaya started last August 1st in the beautiful city of Manila and will take place until August 10th. This year the festival celebrates its 10th edition and the achievements over the pass years are summed up in the theme: A decade of Connecting Dimensions. This highlights the continuous effort to support individuals, groups and institution that develop and promoting Filipino independent filmmakers.




For this edition the festival will present many activities and changes. There will be a book presentation written by Nestor O. Jardin the presinde tof the Cinemalaya Foundation. We will know the winner of the Cinemalaya Logo Contest. The organizers introduced a new new award called Cinemalaya Achievement Award that will recognize filmmakers or organizations for outstanding and distinguished work in Philippine Independent cinema. Finally the festival will present a documentary called “The Cinemalaya 2014 Exhiibit” that shows the last ten years of the festival.

The Cinemalaya Congress held on August 5 & 6 at the CCP Little Theater will examine the state of digital filmmaking in the Philippines and the impact of Cinemalaya on the industry. Cinemalaya X offers festival goers the unique opportunity to view all Cinemalaya films produced in the past ten years of the Festival in the special Cinemalaya Retrospective. During the next days the festival will premiere 25 new digital films in the three competition categories, namely, New Breed Full Length Feature, Directors Showcase and Short Feature.





There are some days left to attend the festival and see the best of the Filipino Independent Films so please make sure you go to the cinemas. Will try to see some of the movies via online and letter talk about them.
